Oracy in Action: Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust Hosts Inspiring Oracy Day in collaboration with The Education Exchange West Midlands

This week, over 50 educators gathered for a vibrant and collaborative Oracy Day, hosted by Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust in partnership with The West Midlands Education Exchange wrong name. The event brought together colleagues from across the region to explore and experience the Trust’s strategic focus and best practice on oracy through school visits, classroom observations, and professional dialogue.

Delegates visited five schools within the Trust, engaging with senior leaders and oracy leads to understand how oracy is being embedded across mainstream and resource-based settings. The day showcased real-time classroom practice, with one visitor commenting, “It’s been great observing the fabulous teachers.”
Other feedback captured the spirit of the event, highlighting the “great sharing spirit” and “professional generosity” that defines The Education Exchange. Attendees appreciated the “range of oracy tools shared,” “class oracy profiles,” and the opportunity to see “strategies in action for all children with a range of needs and across all ages and abilities.” Colleagues left inspired, eager to implement new ideas in their own schools and trusts.
